09/05/2003: This
particular Best Western Hotel is located inside the Walt Disney World Resort,
although it isn't technically a Disney hotel. It is located just a few
blocks from Downtown Disney, and it's only a few minutes to the gate of one of
the four Disney Theme Parks.
I went on Hotwire.com to see what kind of
deal we could get for our weekend trip to Orlando. I found a 3-star hotel
at a reasonable price in the Walt Disney World Area, so I gave it a shot. Turns
out it was this place. It looked nice, so I pretty excited about it. As nice as it looked, it turned out to be
even better.
After a 16 hour drive to Orlando, we arrived
at the hotel around noon, and even though check in wasn't until 3:00pm, they
were more than happy to give us our room early. (This was a relief!)
The
hotel was quite nice looking, and the pictures were accurate when compared to
the real deal. The guest rooms were nice, and each of them had their own
private balcony. There are lots of other little extras like a coffee
maker, AM/FM radio alarm clock, cable TV, and that sort of thing.
The property also offers other amenities like
restaurants, a pool, a mini-mart, and transportation to and from the Disney
parks. (We tried this one day just for kicks, but it was actually much
easier just to drive to Disney and pay the $7 for parking.) The
transportation is a free bus service that runs from the other participating
hotels in the area to and from Disney areas. While it was nice to try, I
don't like having to rely on their timetable.
Rates will vary based on who you book
through, or the time of year you go. You can always check current rates at
www.bestwestern.com.
Overall, it was quite a comfortable stay, and
I would definitely be happy to stay there again with no complaints. If
you're looking for a nice hotel located really close to Disney, this is a great
place to stay!
