The
most wild thing about The Truman Show is the fact that it's entirely possible.
In today's world of reality TV, nothing would get more ratings than a 24-hour
show about a guy who doesn't know he's on TV.
Truman Burbank (Carrey) was adopted as a baby by a
TV studio that wanted to make a reality show about his life. They
created an entire environment specially designed for Truman, lined with
thousands of hidden cameras. As the technology advanced, the cameras got
smaller, and in more places.
Truman grew up in a world where he was real, but
everyone else was not. Other people are all paid actors, living on an
island that is all for Truman. After 30 successful seasons (years) of
the Truman Show, Truman finally starts to become suspicious of his
surroundings.
He starts to realize that something is keeping him
on the island for no reason, and he suspects that he's a part of something.
The story follows Truman as he discovers that everything in his life for the
last 30 years has been preplanned.
It's a great story, and you really get involved
Truman's character. He can't quite figure things out on his own, but
you're rooting for him the whole time. It's a solid movie, with very few
parts that drag. It's definitely interesting, and it really makes you
think about entertainment today. This movie could happen in real life.
