Shrek

Starring: Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, John Lithgow

Studio: DreamWorks Home Entertainment

Shrek was the absolute breakout hit of 2001.  This movie proved that an animated movie doesn't have to have the Disney name on it to be a blockbuster.  It's extremely funny, for kids and adults alike.  Shrek is a wonderful story, and there the laughter is almost non-stop

Voiced by Mike Myers, Shrek is simply an ogre living in a swamp.  He accidentally saves the life of Donkey (Murphy), and Donkey decides to start hanging around.  Shrek and Donkey head back to the swamp, where he finds out that lots of storybook characters have started appearing on his property.  Shrek is told that Lord Farquaad (Lithgow) banished everyone to his swamp.  He decides it's time to pay a visit to Farquaad.

Shrek and Donkey make their way to Dulok, and are not welcomed upon their arrival.  After punishing many of Farquaad's knights, Shrek is offered his swamp in exchange for a service.  He has to rescue Princess Fiona (Diaz) from a dragon's castle.  The adventure begins.

At this point, Shrek and Donkey have quite a long journey (both to the castle and back) and it's very fun to watch.  I'm not going to go into details here.  I'll simply say this: The story never gets boring, and it's great from beginning to end.  If you're a living person, you should own this DVD.  There's no reason not to.  Pick it up today and you'll want to watch over and over again.
