National Lampoon's Van Wilder

Starring: Ryan Reynolds, Tara Reid, Tim Matheson

Studio: Artisan Home Entertainment

If you're into comedy, this movie is for you.  I'll be honest with you though, when I first tried watching this movie, I got through 15 minutes of this movie and turned it off.  I just couldn't see why it was supposed to be funny.  Upon recommendations from several people, I decided to give it another shot.  I'm SO glad I did.

Van Wilder is a story about...  well Van Wilder (Reynolds).  He's a 7th year college student, working his "leisure studies" degree.  When his rich father realizes that he's still paying for Van's college education, he immediately stops making payments and orders Van to leave college.  Van protests and decides that he'll find a way to pay for college himself.

Van is a big man on campus, and everyone knows who he is, but nobody knows much about him.  This is where he meets Gwen Pearson (Reid).  Gwen needs to write a story about Van Wilder for the school paper, and she spends much of her time trying to track him down.  At the same time, Van is working with his friends to pay tuition, along with chasing after Gwen (although not to do the article)   It's a good story, and you really get to like Van Wilder's character.

The movie has lots of funny moments, and there are things that you will NEVER forget in a million years.  (Without spoiling anything, let's just say that you'll never look at a breakfast food the same way again.)  The back of the box says "You'll go NUTS over this movie!" and it's not far from the truth.  It's got many funny things you'll be telling your friends about.  It's a movie that everyone with a sense of humor should own.  Buy it immediately!

Overall: 10/10
