Finding
Nemo is a tale of a clownfish father, Marlin (Brooks) who is a regular fish
until one day when everything changed. His wife and kids are
unexpectedly taken away, and he is left with his one and only son, Nemo
(Gould). (I don't know why Disney always insists of including sad parts
in every animated movie!) As Nemo is his only child, he is very
protective of him, and monitors all of his activities closely. When Nemo
finally heads off to school, he gets drifts too far from the class, and ends
up getting captured. Marlin then sets off on a quest of "Finding Nemo."
(The movie title really lives up to it's name!)
Along the way, the beautifully animated scenes
take you to many places underwater, and you're introduced to hundreds of sea
creatures. From clams and sharks to sea turtles, there are many
interesting characters to see. On his journey, Marlin runs into Dory (Degeneres),
a regal blue tang fish, who seems to have a slight problem. She suffers
greatly from a type of all-term memory loss, so she's extremely forgetful.
She's more than willing to help Marlin find Nemo, although she mostly forgets
why she's with him. The character is a little annoying at first, but
she's pretty funny after a few minutes.
Meanwhile, Nemo spends his time trying to find a
way out of his predicament, while at the same time hearing rumors that his
father is out searching for him. His band of new friends promise him
that they will help him get reunited with his father once again. I won't
tell you where his new friends live, but they certainly have an interesting
lifestyle.
Overall, it's definitely a fun journey from start
to finish. It was wonderfully animated, and I could really stand to
watch it more than once. The two disk Collector's Edition is full of
tons of extra features, which will keep you busy for hours. Young and
old alike should enjoy this classic.
