Video Games Review Criteria

Here at Project: FUN, we're all about having fun.  Video games are a perfect example of how many guys have a good time.  So how exactly do we rate our games?  Well, we break it down like this.

Gameplay is the backbone of the game.  In this area we'll describe how it played, controlled, etc.  This is the spot where you'll find cool features of the game.  We'll also hit on what doesn't work, and talk about how to get around problems.  We feel that without good gameplay, the game just doesn't feel well overall.

Graphics are important to some people, but we feel that some reviewers focus to heavily on graphics and use far too many technical terms to describe everything.  We'll tell you if things looked good, but we aren't rocket scientists.  We're regular guys who just like to have a good time.

Sound & Music are also important to today's games.  If music is boring or repetitive, then we'll note it.  If the sound effects or voice-overs are done well, then this is the place to look.

In the Story section, we'll give a brief overview of the main character(s) and tell a short version of the storyline.  We try not to get too detailed, so as not to spoil the game.  So, if we leave something out, be thankful that we didn't ruin it for you.

Replay Value is also essential to today's video games.  What do you do once you've beaten the game?  Is it worth playing again?  Look here to find out.

Should I Buy or Rent?  In this section, we basically tell you how much time you'll spend with the game.  If we think that you can beat in a rental, then we'll note that.  Check here to see if a game is just so darn long, that you'll have to buy it to see it all.

The Overall rating has nothing to do with the rest of the scores.  It's simply the reviewer's feeling about the overall makeup of the game.  Just because the game doesn't score well in some categories, doesn't mean it's a bad game.

All of our categories are on a 10 point scale, with 10 being the best, and 0 being the worst.  While we don't include every single detail about a game, we simply try to include the things that stand out most in our minds.  This way, our readers can make informed decisions when purchasing new products.
